Chora - User Guide

Welcome to Chora, this guide will detail the complete operation process, core function usage methods, and personalized settings steps of the tool, helping you quickly complete disk and folder space scanning, usage analysis, and file management operations, efficiently clean up redundant files, and free up disk space.

1. Tool Interface Overview

The tool's main interface layout is clear and distinct, with core areas divided into two main modules on the left and right, paired with bottom function buttons and a right-side floating menu. The operation logic is intuitive, no complex learning is required to get started:

  • Left area: By default, it displays all disk lists currently mounted on the device, supporting quick selection of target disks; there is an exclusive "Add Folder" button at the bottom, which can be customized to specify local folders for targeted scanning without scanning the entire disk, more in line with precise analysis needs.
  • Right area: The core result display area, which automatically presents space usage data after scanning is completed, supports dual-mode switching display, and intuitively views key information such as file and folder distribution, size sorting, etc.
  • Bottom right floating button: The core shortcut menu entry of the tool, click to call up the full-featured menu including user guide, comments, customer service, upgrade, and settings, and call auxiliary functions at any time.

2. Basic Scanning Operation (Core Steps)

Scanning is the basic function of the tool, supporting two modes: full disk scanning and folder targeted scanning. The operation steps are exactly the same, and the specific process is as follows:

Step 1: Select Scanning Target

  • Scan disk: Directly click to select the mounted disk that needs to be analyzed in the left disk list, no additional configuration is required;
  • Scan specified folder: If there is no need to scan the entire disk, click the "Add Folder" button at the bottom of the left list, locate and select the target local folder in the pop-up file selection window, and after confirmation, the folder will be added to the left scanning target list.

Step 2: Start Space Scanning

After selecting the scanning target, click the "Start Scanning" button in the interface, and the tool immediately starts space usage analysis, automatically traversing all files and subfolders in the disk/folder in the background, and calculating various data in real-time. The scanning time varies slightly according to the target capacity and number of files. Small-capacity disks/folders can produce results in seconds, and large-capacity disks can be completed with patience.

Step 3: View Scanning Results

After the scan is completed, all space usage data will be automatically displayed in the right area of the interface. The tool supports two display modes: sunburst chart and list, which can be freely switched according to usage habits. By default, both modes can be displayed simultaneously (can be modified in settings).

3. Scanning Result Viewing and Interactive Operations

The right result area supports rich right-click interaction and sorting functions, making it easy to quickly locate large files, redundant files, and directly complete file management operations without switching to system Finder.

1. Dual-Mode Result Display Instructions

  • Sunburst chart mode: Visually display space usage distribution in layers, through different color blocks and sector sizes, intuitively reflecting the space proportion of folders, subfolders, and files, locking the core directory that occupies the most space at a glance, suitable for quickly locating large-volume directories.
  • List mode: Detail display of all folders and subfolders within the current scanning range, with an exclusive large file display section, automatically sorting by file size from largest to smallest, accurately screening super large files, which is the core reference section for cleaning up redundant files.

2. List Sorting Function

There is an exclusive sorting switch button in the upper right corner of the right list, click to switch multiple sorting types to adapt to different analysis needs:

  • Sort by file/folder size (default large files first)
  • Sort by file type (similar files displayed together)
  • Sort by modification time (newest/oldest modified files first)
  • Sort by file/folder name (alphabetical/numerical order)

3. Right-Click Quick Operations (Core Management Functions)

The tool supports full-scenario right-click interaction, completing file management without jumping pages, greatly improving operation efficiency:

  • Right-click on the left disk/folder list: Select the disk or custom folder added on the left, click the right mouse button, and you can directly execute the delete operation to remove unnecessary scanning targets and clean up the left list.
  • Right-click on the right sunburst chart/list: For any file or folder in the scanning results, click the right mouse button to pop up the corresponding menu, including: Show in Finder (directly locate the original file location), Move (transfer files to other directories), Delete (directly delete redundant files to free up space).

4. Detailed Explanation of the Bottom Right Floating Menu Functions

There is a prominent floating function button in the lower right corner of the interface, click to call up the core auxiliary menu, including five practical functions, covering the entire usage process:

  • User Guide: Click to directly open this user manual, view operation steps and function details at any time to solve usage questions;
  • Write a Review: One-click jump to the corresponding Apple Store page, share your experience, write a review, and help us optimize the product;
  • Contact Us: Quickly open the tool's official support page, submit problem feedback, obtain technical support, and consult function-related questions;
  • Upgrade to Pro: Click to open the Pro version upgrade window, view advanced function benefits, and unlock more comprehensive disk analysis, batch cleaning, deep scanning and other exclusive capabilities;
  • Settings: Open the personalized settings window, customize tool usage preferences, detailed settings are below.

5. Personalized Settings (Settings Window Detailed Explanation)

Enter the "Settings" window through the floating menu to customize tool display styles and scanning default rules to adapt to personal usage habits. The core settings are divided into two categories:

1. Theme Settings

Support switching tool interface themes, which can be selected according to device system themes and personal visual preferences, taking into account both aesthetics and usage comfort.

2. Scanning Related Settings

  • Default display method for scanning results: You can choose to display only the sunburst chart, only the list, or all displays in the right area after scanning is completed, freely defining the core display form;
  • Default list sorting method: Set the default sorting rule for list mode in advance (size, type, modification time, name), no need to manually switch after each scan, improving usage efficiency.

Usage Tips: It is recommended to prioritize scanning system disks and commonly used work disks, quickly locate cache files, installation packages, duplicate videos and other redundant data through large file lists and sunburst charts, right-click to directly delete or move; regular scanning can effectively keep disk space sufficient and avoid device lag caused by full disk.

If you encounter scanning anomalies, operation lag or other problems during use, you can jump to the support page through the floating menu "Contact Us" to obtain exclusive technical support.

FAQ

Chora - FAQ

This FAQ summarizes the most common operational questions, functional limitations, abnormal problems and solutions encountered by users during use, covering basic scanning, result viewing, file operations, Pro version benefits, and personalized settings scenarios, helping you quickly troubleshoot problems and use the tool smoothly.

1. How to unlock Pro version features?

This is a software version functional permission distinction. The free version only supports disk/folder space scanning, sunburst chart and list basic viewing functions. Large file detailed viewing, file moving, file deletion and other core file management operations belong to Pro version exclusive benefits. You need to click the floating menu in the lower right corner [Upgrade to Pro], and after completing the upgrade, you can unlock all permissions and use large file management related functions without restrictions.

2. After scanning is completed, how to switch between sunburst chart and list display modes? Can I only display one by default?

The scanning results support flexible switching of display states. The interface is equipped with exclusive control buttons, which can independently adjust the display states of the two display modes: it can only display the sunburst chart alone, only the list alone, or can open both modes to display all at the same time, and you can switch each mode with one click through the corresponding control buttons. If you want to fix the display style for daily use, you can also enter the settings window through the floating menu in the lower right corner, set the default display mode in advance in the scanning settings section, and after subsequent scanning, it will automatically display according to the preset state without manual adjustment every time.

3. The scanning speed is very slow, how to solve it?

The scanning speed depends on the capacity of the target disk/folder, the number of files, and the proportion of fragmented files. Scanning large-capacity hard disks and directories containing a large number of small files will take a little longer, which is a normal phenomenon, and you can complete the full scan with patience.

4. Can I modify the default sorting method of the list? How to set priority sorting by modification time?

You can customize the default sorting without manual switching every time. Click the floating menu in the lower right corner to enter the settings window, find the list default sorting option in the scanning settings, you can choose four modes: size, type, modification time, and name, select "modification time" and save, and the list will automatically sort by modification time after subsequent scanning. With the sorting button in the upper right corner, you can also temporarily switch to other sorting methods without affecting the default settings.

5. Where to switch the software theme? Will the settings be permanently saved?

The theme setting entry is in the software settings window. Click Settings through the floating menu in the lower right corner to find the theme setting section, select the appropriate interface theme, which will take effect in real time after switching, and the setting content will be automatically saved. Subsequent opening of the software will maintain this theme style and will not reset with software restart. It can be freely matched according to the system dark/light mode.
